Hure and Shwaluk Earn ICCAC Athlete of the Week

Roland Hure – Southwestern – Long Jump, 100m, 4x100 Relay, 4x400 Relay

The Southwestern Track & Field team have themselves an all-around athlete in Roland Hure. The freshman competed in four events at the Grand View Invitational and set a PR in the long jump while competing and finishing well in other events. With a leap of 6.88 meters, Hure also broke the school record and won the event. Hure also finished seventh in the 100-meter dash and was a key piece in Southwestern's 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams.

 

Paige Shwaluk - Southwestern - Shortstop

Southwestern went 3-3 in their six games last week and included in those wins was an impressive upset over the No. 15 team in the country, Indian Hills. Paige Shwaluk had her most impressive week to this point in her collegiate career. The freshman batted .520 (13-25) with four doubles, two triples, and two home runs. The bat had some pop but even more important was the timeliness of her hitting. In just six games Shwaluk drove in 14 runs, scoring ten more for herself with solid baserunning and teammates behind her.
