On Jan. 29, 2022, the Southwestern Spartan women’s and men’s teams face NIACC at 1 and 3 p.m. respectively, in the Student Center gymnasium. In addition to two competitive match-ups, the women’s game will feature a Think Pink cancer awareness event (be sure to wear PINK to the game) and throughout the afternoon the Spartans will be celebrating with their pen pals from the fifth grade class at Creston Community School District.

During the Think Pink women’s game, players will warm up in cancer awareness T-shirts, there will be cancer awareness information available from Greater Regional Health, and a ribbon tree will be on display including messages of hope and love to cancer victims and survivors.

The Spartan Pen Pal Celebration will kickoff with the fifth graders providing a tunnel during the women’s starting lineup! Following the women’s game, all Pen Pals will be invited to the floor to be in a group picture with their Spartan Pen Pals from the women’s basketball team, men’s basketball team, dance team, cross country/track team, and student ambassadors. Then, during the men’s starting line-up the fifth graders will provide another tunnel for the players.

The Spartan dance team will perform during halftime of both games.
