Chris Piperno has been the head coach for Spartan baseball since June 2022. Piperno had a phenomenal start at the helm and was named the ICCAC Coach of the Year following the 2023 season. In 53 games, he coached Southwestern to 19 wins, including 10 in conference. In late-February and early-March, Piperno led the Spartans to a seven-game winning streak.

Piperno came to Creston from Delray Beach, Florida, where he had been the assistant baseball coach and recruiting coordinator for Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida, since 2015. In addition, he coached the Boca Raton Blazers in the South Florida Collegiate League from 2017-22. The Blazers were the 2021 South Florida Collegiate League champions.

At Lynn University, Piperno coached 10 all-conference, 11 all-region, three all-Americans, and three Sunshine State Conference Players of the Year. Seventeen of his players have gone on to sign professional contracts, with four of them being drafted in the Major League Baseball draft.

Piperno earned a Master of Business Administration from Lynn University in May 2021 and a Bachelor of Arts in American studies with a minor in elementary education in May 2013. He is a graduate of General Douglas MacArthur High School in Levittown, New York.
