Spartan dance team gains three student-athletes

Morgan Evans, Anne James, and Dakotah Wildin are the most recent additions to the 2021-22 Spartan dance team.

The Spartan dance team picked up three additional recruits this week for their 2021-22 season. Morgan Evans of Winterset, Anne James of Mount Ayr, and Dakotah Wildin of Winterset all joined the roster.

Evans, a May 2021 graduate of Winterset High School, varsity lettered in cheer and was on the honor squad. Academically, she was a member of the National Honor Society, student council, and the honor roll. In addition, she received a varsity letter in FFA. She is the daughter of Scott and Erica Evans of Winterset.

James, a May 2021 graduate of Mount Ayr High School, was a varsity cheerleader. She was named to the honor roll consecutive semesters and was named Mount Ayr's Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Kelly and Shelly James of Mount Ayr.

Wildin, a May 2021 graduate of Winterset High School, received varsity letters in wrestling and football cheer, as well as track and cross country. She was named to the honor roll throughout high school. She is the daughter of Mike and Crystal Wildin of Winterset.

Head Coach Paige Busch said the three will make great additions to the team.

"It's great to see our team growing," said Busch. "I am so excited to have these three student-athletes on our team!"

The Spartan dance team begins practice next week. They will be competing in the Iowa State Dance & Drill Team Association's State Championships Dec. 1-3 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines and performing throughout the year.
