The Iowa Western Reivers won the Men's Outdoor Track & Field Region XI Championships for the first time since 2008 last weekend. The Reivers won eight events to power past 12 time reigning champion, Iowa Central. The Tritons also won eight events, with Indian Hills winning five, and Hawkeye winning one.

Of those winners, two were voted as the 2022 ICCAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete and Field Athlete of the Year.

Indian Hills sprinter Justin Walden was tagged with the Track Athlete of the Year. The sophomore won the 100 meter, 200 meter and was on the 4x100 meter team that took first place. His season-mark that he matched at the regional ranks fourth all time in Indian Hills history.

He placed sixth at the Drake Relays in the 100 meter -- racing against top NCAA talent. Walden has qualified for Nationals in four events -- including the 4x400 meter relay as well. He becomes the third Warrior sprint in a row to win the Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year award.

Taking the Field Athlete of the Year was Iowa Central's Aries Scott. For the second year in a row, Scott was tagged with the honor after winning the decathlon and pole vault. He is currently top 10 in the nation in the decathlon and won the Region XI Championship with 5,698 points. Additionally, Scott was fifth in the long jump and fourth in the 110 meter hurdles with a PR of 15.24.

Other notable finishers and First Team All-Region earners were Iowa Central's Yared Kidane. Kidane set a Region XI meet record in the 1,500 meter with a time of 3:49.92. He was also a part of the winning 4x800 meter relay team -- and was Second Team All-Region in the 800 meter, and Honorable Mention in the 4x400 meter relay.

Fellow Triton Aspel Kiprob won the 5,000 meter and 10,000 meter for First Team honors. Also, Hunter Klimek won the 3000 meter steeplechase and was on the 4x800 region champion team.

Cortney Watkins was the regional champion for Iowa Western in both hurdle races, the 110 and 400 meter. He is No. 5 and No. 7 in the NJCAA this season, respectively.

Notably for the Indian Hills Warriors, Rivaldo Marshall won the 800 meter and was on the winning 4x400 meter relay team. He has the third fastest time in the NJCAA this season in the event at 1:48.88.
