Southwestern Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach Trey Bruton recently announced the addition of Creston senior Jared Moreland for the 2020-21 season.

Moreland, who will graduate from Creston Community High School in May 2020, signed his National Letter of Intent during a Tuesday afternoon ceremony at CCHS.

Moreland, the son of Carmalee Woods, is a four-year letterwinner in cross country at Creston, a three-year letterwinner in soccer and a two-year letterwinner in track and field. He is also an honor roll student.

"He's got a lot of potential," Bruton said. "We don't think he's hit nearly as close to his potential for cross country and for track, which he hasn't done much of. Getting him to do track will help him in his progression. We're excited to see what he can do and can bring to us."

Moreland, who ran consistently as Creston's No. 2 runner this fall, is the fourth signing for Southwestern men's cross country for the 2020 season, joining three other Hawkeye 10 runners.
