Canadian infielder signs to Spartan softball

Abbi Conrad signs her National Letter of Intent to join the Southwestern softball team.

Southwestern Community College Head Softball Coach Casey-May Huff announced Abbi Conrad, an infielder from Swan Lake, Manitoba, Canada, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Southwestern Spartans next year.

Conrad graduated from Prairie Mountain High School in June 2021. Conrad received the all-star infielding award at the U16 Canadian Fastpitch Nationals. In 2019, her team won gold at the Western Canadian Summer games and she was awarded MVP for her travel team, Central Energy. Academically, Conrad has been on the honor roll for four years, and has received the highest grade in her classes for physics, pre-calculus, biology, history, and applied math.

"We are very excited to get Abbi down here," said Nick Weinmeister, former head softball coach and current athletic director. "She is a good kid with a lot of aspirations for her future. Abbi will only make us better on all aspects of this team. She knows what it takes to be successful on the field and in the classroom, and we couldn't be happier to call her a Spartan."

Conrad is the daughter of Jody and Tara Conrad of Swan Lake, Manitoba, Canada.
