Lair-Van Meter signs with Waldorf

Tina Lair-Van Meter signs her National Letter of Intent to continue her basketball career at Waldorf.

Southwestern sophomore post player Tina Lair-Van Meter signed her National Letter of Intent on Friday to continue her academic and basketball career at Waldorf College in Forest City.

Lair-Van Meter is the daughter of Kevin and Kristin Lentz and Joe Van Meter. She graduated from Coon Rapids-Bayard High School in May 2017 and made an impact on the court for Southwestern in her two years on the team.

Spartan Head Coach Bryan Austin noted at the signing that Lair-Van Meter doubled her rebounds from her freshman to her sophomore year on her way to nearly averaging a double-double for the season.

Lair-Van Meter led the ICCAC Division II in rebounding during the 2018-19 season, averaging 9.6 boards per game, and also topped the conference with 4.2 offensive rebounds per game. She ranked third for the Spartans this season with 10.5 points per game. Her 1.1 blocked shots per game ranked second in the conference.

She received third-team honors for the 2018-19 season on the Region XI Division II All-Region teams.

"I'm thankful for the opportunity to continue my academic and athletic career as a Warrior," Lair-Van Meter said. "The experience I had as a Spartan both on and off the court has me excited to go to the next level. I chose Waldorf because of the nice campus and facilities and the great coaching staff."
