Southwestern Seeks eSports Head Coach

The Southwestern Athletic Department has recently announced the pursuit of an eSports Head Coach. With over 100 varsity eSports teams nation-wide, the Spartans are joining the party. "eSports is growing at a phenomenal rate," says Athletic Director, Doug North, "It is unique to the point that eSports is unlike any other sport, it is more like all of the other sports. There are so many ways you can take a program."

Southwestern is looking to join the growing number of National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) schools adding eSports. The NJCAA recently announced the addition of NJCAAe, which you can read about here: https://www.njcaa.org/general/2019-20/releases/20190909g3cocu

Southwestern is looking to make a quick and aggressive hire to jump-start the eSports program on campus. "We are excited to grow our athletics department in this direction," says North. "We've got an opportunity to get in early and make a splash."

Actively seeking a head coach to launch and oversee SWCC's new eSports team. The head coach will be responsible for establishing, recruiting and retaining students to meet roster numbers. Key coaching responsibilities include recruiting, budgeting, fundraising, community engagement, scheduling, promoting, skill instruction, academic support, compliance, and game plan preparation and strategy. The ideal candidate will be creative, energetic, organized, and able to connect with a diverse group of gaming student athletes.

Qualifications include a minimum of a bachelor's degree required; master's preferred. Previous coaching and recruiting experience with a proven commitment to excellence at the collegiate level desired. Coaching stipend is $7,500.
