Southwestern Seeks Sports Shooting Coach

Southwestern Community College has announced the search for the perfect individual to lead the sports shooting programs to new heights. Current head coach, Mark Roberg, will finish out the 2019-20 academic year and look to pass the reins to the next individual. Current assistant coach, Tom King, will remain on staff in his current role and will be a vital piece to the continuity of the program and ensuring a smooth transition.

The sports shooting program at Southwestern has been rich with success over the years, including top finishes at the ACUI Collediate Clay Target National Championship. Placing third, placing sixth, and bringing home National Champions is the expectation and the history of this program. The next coach will inherit talented young men and women and a program that knows how to win.

Coaching responsibilities include practice, recruitment, and retention of program participants, academic advising and monitoring of program participant academic progress, equipment purchasing, management of operating budget, and travel arrangements for the team. Firearm safety training and experience in sports shooting required.

Qualifications include previous high school or collegiate level coaching experience preferred. A minimum of an associate degree (or relative work experience) desired; bachelor's degree preferred.
