Southwestern Community College sophomore Stetson McIlravy of Solon was selected to the National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) by administrators in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC), following a nomination by the Southwestern athletic department.

McIlravy, who is a student-athlete on Southwestern’s golf team, and Kendal Clark from DMACC, were chosen to represent Region 11 at meetings held virtually and in-person at the national convention. During these meetings, the participants will talk about sportsmanship; leadership; rules and regulations from the NJCAA; and what they can change as student-athletes.

According to Cole Higgins, Southwestern graduate assistant and co-advisor for SWCC’s SAAC organization, McIlravy was selected due to his character on and off of the playing field. Higgins said McIlravy is a 4.0 student and demonstrates what it means to be a student-athlete. McIlravy, who will earn his Associate of Arts degree for transfer in May, has been named to the President’s List each semester he has attended Southwestern.

“Stetson does a great job with our student-athlete advisory committee on campus,” stated Higgins. “We felt he would be the perfect individual to represent Southwestern, as well as Region 11 at the national level.”

Congratulations, Stetson!
