A Special Spartan Welcome: Sandra DeBruin Returns to SWCC

Spartan Athletics had a special guest in attendance for Saturday's basketball games, as we were thrilled to welcome back former student-athlete Sandra DeBruin from Beetgum, Netherlands!

Sandra was a standout student-athlete at Southwestern Community College from 1987 to 1989, making a lasting impact on Spartan Athletics during her time on campus. She competed in both women's basketball and volleyball, showcasing her talent, dedication, and leadership across two sports. Sandra's efforts played a key role in the success of both programs, as the Spartans advanced to the NJCAA national tournaments in basketball and volleyball during her two seasons.

After graduating from Southwestern in May 1989, Sandra continued her academic and athletic journey at the University of Kansas, where she played for the Jayhawks and completed her college career at the NCAA Division I level.

Sandra's return highlights the strong connections and legacy shared among SWCC alumni and current students. Her presence served as an inspiring reminder of the opportunities Southwestern provides student-athletes and the success that can follow both on and off the court.

Thank you, Sandra, for taking the time to visit and for representing the Spartan spirit so well! Once a Spartan, always a Spartan.
