Spartan baseball players Oscar Rivera and Jadriel Pantoja were named players of the week by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference for the week of Feb. 5-11, 2018.

Rivera, a sophomore right-handed pitcher, was named the Division I Pitcher of the Week after earning his first win of the season for the Spartans as they beat Allen County Community College (ACCC) 12-2 in only six innings. He gave up one run early before finding his groove. After that, he gave up only six hits in his five innings on the mound and tallied five strikeouts. Pantoja, a freshman designated hitter, showed off his batting skills in the doubleheader with ACCC with three home runs and seven RBIs. He is batting .300 on the season.
