The Southwestern baseball program started their 2019 class signing two standouts from Southeast Warren High School. Infielder Kaleb Bauer and catcher Colby Page will be joining the Spartan baseball program next fall.

Both players have experienced success at the varsity level during the last four years. Since 2015, the Warhawks are a combined 85-35. Last summer, the team finished 26-7, falling just one game shy of qualifying for the Class 1A State Tournament. This fall, the Southeast Warren football team finished 12-1, reaching the 8-Player State Semi-Finals. Page led the offense at quarterback throwing for 2,436 yards with 42 touchdowns and 12 more on the ground. Bauer was the leading receiver with 49 catches for 949 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Bauer hit .434 last summer with 12 doubles, 2 triples and 21 RBIs while swiping 26 bags.

The Southwestern Spartans Head Coach Kenny Namanny said Bauer is a good athlete who hits from the left side. The Spartans haven’t had a lot of left-handed hitters the last few years so Bauer will bring something to the team.

"Kaleb is coming in as an infielder, but could end up in the outfield for us as well," Namanny stated. "Either way, he’s a solid baseball player and I really think he will find a spot in our lineup and contribute. We’re definitely excited about getting him into our program, adding some strength, and watching him develop.”

Page hit .424 last summer with 13 doubles, 7 homeruns and 23 RBIs.

Namanny said one of the areas his program really needed to address with the 2019 class was the catcher position so Page will be an asset right from the start.

"We’re looking to Colby to be one of our everyday catchers next year," Namanny said. "Not only will he fill a need defensively, but he also brings some power to our lineup. Colby is also starting his senior wrestling season individually ranked in Class 1A. That’s the kind of guy you want in your program, especially behind the dish.”
