Southwestern Community College (SWCC) is pleased to announce the hiring of Addison Shay as the new Assistant Coach for the Spartans Dance Team. Shay, an accomplished alumna of SWCC and a graduate of Iowa State University, brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the program.

A native of Mount Ayr, Addison Shay has deep roots in the community and a strong connection to Southwestern. During her time at SWCC, Shay worked as the Institutional Advancement Assistant, demonstrating her commitment to the college and its mission. Her academic journey continued at Iowa State University, where she completed her undergraduate degree, further honing her skills and passion for dance and education.

Currently, Shay is employed by Creston Community Schools and teaches dance at Project C Dance Company, where she has been instrumental in nurturing young talent and fostering a love for dance. Her dedication to her students and her craft is evident in her work both inside and outside the classroom.

In addition to her professional achievements, Shay has been an active member of her community. She has served as an academic mentor throughout her college years and volunteered as a t-ball coach in Tingley, Iowa, showcasing her leadership and commitment to youth development.

Shay will begin her responsibilities immediately, working alongside Head Coach Paige Russo to prepare the Spartans Dance Team for the upcoming season, including new heights and success at the national championship. Her unique blend of professional experience, community involvement, and personal commitment to SWCC's values is expected to elevate the dance program to new heights.
