The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) Athletics Department is excited to announce the appointment of Ethan Brumbaugh as the new assistant coach for the Spartan golf team. Brumbaugh, a distinguished alumnus of SWCC, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the team.
Ethan Brumbaugh graduated from Southwestern in 2022 and continued his academic and athletic journey at Ottawa University in Kansas, earning his degree in May 2024. His time at Ottawa was marked by notable achievements both on and off the course. He graduated as Team Captain, concluded his collegiate play with an impressive 76.2 adjusted scoring average his senior year, and recorded a career-low round of 66 at the OU Fall Invitational. Additionally, Brumbaugh's strong performance at the 2024 KCAC Men's Golf Championship earned him a commendable 7th place finish.
Beyond his collegiate accomplishments, Brumbaugh has been deeply involved in the professional golf world. Since 2020, he has worked as a professional caddie and contributed his skills to the Dormie Network at Arbor Links. His commitment to the sport extended to his role as the lead instructor for the Junior Golf Clinic at Fremont County Golf Course, where he fostered a love for the game among young players.
Brumbaugh's academic prowess was equally impressive. He received academic recognition from the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) during his time at SWCC and continued to excel at Ottawa University, earning academic honors through the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC).
"We are thrilled to welcome Ethan back to the Spartan family," said SWCC Athletic Director, Paul Purvis. "His dedication to the sport and his academic achievements make him a perfect fit for our program. We are confident that his leadership and experience will greatly benefit our student-athletes."
In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Brumbaugh will serve as a Housing Coordinator for the 2024-25 academic year, further contributing to the Southwestern community.
Brumbaugh will begin his coaching duties immediately, and the Spartans are looking forward to a successful season under his guidance.
