Edwards late shot propels Spartans

SWCC MBB vs Iowa Central CC

Khallid Edwards hit a 3-pointer with 19 seconds left to break an 82-82 tie and put Southwestern in position to finish off Iowa Central 89-84 in the Wednesday, Feb. 14, match-up on the Spartans' home court.

The Spartans fell to Iowa Central 83-79 on the road in January. The victory moved the #19 ranked Spartans to 20-6 overall and 5-3 in ICCAC play. The win gave the program their fourth straight 20-win season.

"It was a big shot by Khallid and then we knocked down our free throws," said Spartan Head Coach Todd Lorensen. "No games in this league are easy and we knew we needed to protect our home court."

Gatdoar Kueth had his third straight game with 20 or more points finishing with 21 to lead Southwestern in scoring. Terence Shelby had 10 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.  Edwards finished with 19.

Southwestern is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 17, as they host ICCAC foe Ellsworth at 3 p.m.  Fans are encouraged to wear white as part of a WHITE OUT promotion.
