Spartans survive 90-87 over Ellsworth

For the second time in a week, the Southwestern men's basketball team watched a double-digit halftime lead nearly disappear during their Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, game vs Ellsworth Community College.  Fortunately, both games ended in wins, this one by a score of 90-87 over Ellsworth. The win improved the Spartans' record to 21-6 overall and 6-3 in ICCAC play.

"There's something to be said for winning when you don't play your best," commented Spartan Head Coach Todd Lorensen. "With that in mind, we also did multiple things down the stretch that championship teams don't do.  We have to clean those things up immediately."

Five players reached double figures for a well-balanced offensive outing.  Gatdoar Kueth led the way with 18, Terence Shelby added 16, Rasheed Barze with 15, Khallid Edwards had 11, and Alijah Thomas with 10.

Southwestern hits the road on Wednesday, Feb. 21, as they travel to DMACC for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.  The Spartans won the first meeting vs DMACC 103-81 in Creston in January.
