The Southwestern Spartan men competed on Thursday at the Graceland University Fall Invitational. The Spartans continued their powerful start to the fall in finishing second to a powerful, deep Missouri Valley College team.

Sophomore from Grundy Center, Iowa, Jesper Holke-Farnam, led the Spartans with his first ever collegiate under-par round. "It was the most stress-free round. It could have been low had a few putts fallen, but I'm happy with how I played" says Holke-Farnam. Holke-Farnam's 71 was good for a solo second-place finish with only two players finishing under par.

The Spartan men's team finished in second place in the ten-team field. In shooting a (+9) 297 team score, the Spartans finished eight strokes behind the first place team and nine strokes ahead of third.

The Spartan scores were rounded out by Sophomore, Oliver Pearson, with his (+1) 73, Sophomore Reinhardt Saunderson with his (+3) 75, Sophomore Shaun Richards and his (+6) 78, and Sophomore Kyle Somers and his (+9) 81.

"This was another tournament we could have finished stronger, but it is a positive step in the right direction" says Coach North when asked about the teams accomplishments to-date. "We played the same course one year ago and shot four strokes worse and played fairly well. This 297 was not a good round for us, and that is good to know that we can compete even not at our best.
