Southwestern Community College Men's Golf Team Secures Second Consecutive Victory

The Southwestern Community College Men's Golf Team, led by Coach Doug North, secured their second win in two events this week. The team's performance has solidified their ability to compete with anybody.

The Spartans came home with the team championship with a total score of 307, besting second-place, and home team, Graceland University by five. The team's roster featured some consistent scoring from Isac Fredriksson, Sofus Lyck, and Chase Copeland, each shooting a 76 (+4). Rounding out the scoring was a 79 from Charlie McDonald. Other Spartan scores were: Maddux Weeks and Trevor Schweers with a 78, Kamron Brownlee with an 80, Ethan Badolato with an 81, Carson Thompson with an 86, and Logan Moyer with an 88.

Isac Fredriksson's impressive performance included a score of 76, with a total of 36 on the front nine and 40 on the back nine. Sofus Lyck also showcased his talent, mirroring Fredriksson's score of 76, with 40 on the front nine and 36 on the back nine. Charlie McDonald contributed to the team's success with a score of 79, while Ethan Badolato posted a score of 81. Chase Copeland rounded out the team's outstanding performance with a score of 76.

Coach Doug North expressed the consistency and much-improved back-nine to the team's success, "We had three guys finish in the top-five, which is always good to see. We struggled heavily on the front nine, but put together some even-par and under-par rounds on the back nine to finish. With a young group, it is exciting to see them finish an event well."

The Southwestern Community College Men's Golf Team's victory in this event adds to their growing list of achievements, starting off the season with two consecutive victories. Next up for the Spartans will be the SCC Invitational in Burlington, Iowa.
