Spartans Compete at Southeastern Fall Invitational

Date: September 19, 2023

Burlington, IA - The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) golf team traveled across the state on Tuesday morning to compete at the Southeastern Fall Invite held in Burlington, Iowa at Burlington Country Club. With a strong representation from the Hawkeye Community College, North Iowa Area Community College, and several others, the opportunity was there.

In the individual player standings, Isac Fredriksson and Ethan Badolato displayed impressive skills and tied for the fourth position with a score of 76 (+4). Their consistent performance paced the team and were the highlights of the day.

Coach North:

"Isac and Ethan really stepped up today. Isac has been our anchor all fall, but I'm glad to see Ethan post another good score. He has been carded out of a medal two out of three tournaments so far this fall. These are our sophomores with heavy playing experience, and it is promising to see them lead the team.

Another notable SWCC player, Charlie McDonald, also finished strong with a score of 79 (+7), tying him for the 9th position. Carson Thompson secured the 18th position with a score of 81 (+9).

Coach North:

"Charlie has been consistent. If we can make a few better decisions, he'll be down in the mid-70's and better quickly. He played great on the back when we needed him most. Carson played well for sixteen holes. Unfortunately, we play eighteen and those last two got him. It was good to see him battle all day, he is super close for us as well."

The tournament's top three spots went to Tristin Sorgenfrey, Kaeden Anderson, and Bruno Jimenez from Hawkeye Community College.

In the team standings, the Spartans finished in 3rd place in the nine-team tournament.
