Spartans Finish Strong at War at the Moor, Secure Fourth Place

The Southwestern Community College Spartans men's golf team hosted the War at the Moor tournament, marking the largest field in the tournament's history with 63 players across 12 teams. The Spartans delivered a solid performance, finishing fourth overall, with four players—Cordrey, Lyck, Stiles, and Brownlee—shooting even par 72, securing spots in the top 15.

Leading the charge for the Spartans, Cordrey, Lyck, Stiles, and Brownlee showcased their consistency and composure on the course, each finishing with an even-par score of 72. Their top-15 finishes underscored the team's competitive edge in a highly challenging field.

Mineral Area College emerged as the tournament champions, with one of their players shooting an impressive 68 to claim the individual title. Mineral Area also secured the team trophy with a remarkable 8-under-par total of 280, solidifying their dominance.

Other notable performances from the Spartans included Powell's 73, Muggeridge's 74, and Lorentzon's 77. Rounding out the team's efforts were Miller (78), Tibben (85), Moyer (93), and Lopez (95).

The Spartans now turn their attention to the upcoming Iowa Central Fall Kickoff, scheduled for Monday, September 9th. The team will look to build on their momentum and continue their strong performance as they compete against top talent in the region.
