The Southwestern Spartans men's golf team continued their stellar form, clinching the team title at the Graceland Fall Invitational on September 19, 2024. Competing against a field of NAIA and JUCO teams, the Spartans finished with a team score of +7, securing a five-stroke victory over Graceland (+12), the tournament host.
Sophomore Sofus Lyck led the charge for Southwestern, shooting an impressive 1-under-par to finish second individually. His consistent performance kept the Spartans in contention throughout the day. Teammates Elliot Lorentzon and Freddie Muggeridge added to the team's strong showing, both finishing tied for third at +2.
Sophomore Kamron Brownlee, competing as an individual, posted a solid +4 finish, tying for seventh place alongside his teammate Alexander Cordrey. Another key contributor for Southwestern was Ryan Stiles, who carded a +14 in his performance.
"It is always good to be on top of the podium at the end of the day," said Head Coach Doug North. "Sofus led the way, but we have some talent and anybody can win on any given day. It's a great start to the season, and we're excited to keep building."
