Spartans Secure T5 Finish at Crestview Spring Invitational

WICHITA, Kan. – The Southwestern Spartans men's golf team put together a solid performance at the Crestview Spring Invitational, finishing tied for fifth in a strong 13-team field hosted by NAIA No. 5 Friends University. Competing against a mix of NAIA and NJCAA programs, the Spartans secured second place among the four NJCAA teams in the tournament.

Southwestern posted a team total of +62 over three rounds at the challenging Crestview Country Club, highlighted by consistent play from several key contributors. The Spartans finished level with Southwestern College (KS) and just six shots behind fourth-place Midland (NE).

Individual Highlights

  • Freddie Muggeridge led the Spartans with a +7 total, finishing in a tie for 12th overall. His second-round 69 (-3) was a standout performance, demonstrating his ability to go low against a competitive field.

  • Alexander Cordrey delivered a steady effort, carding a +12 total to place T-19.

  • Elliot Lorentzon shot +17, securing a T-30 finish, highlighted by a final round, 73 (+1).

  • Sofus Lyck and Evan Powell rounded out the team scoring, finishing at +27 and +28, respectively.

The tournament featured top-tier competition, with Friends University capturing the team title at -9, while Bellevue finished second at +10. Iowa Western was the highest-placing NJCAA team, taking third at +13.
