Spartans Head Coach to Host 2025 Crestmoor Junior Golf Event

Creston, IA – The Southwestern Spartans head golf coach is set to host the 2025 Crestmoor Junior Golf event, providing young golfers with an opportunity to develop their skills through professional instruction and competitive play. Open to golfers ages 7-17, the program will take place at Crestmoor Golf Club and feature lessons, practice days, and optional tournament participation.

The program fee is $30 for Crestmoor members and $40 for non-members. Entry fees include lessons from golf professional John Dinnebier, scheduled practice days, and eligibility to compete in junior golf tournaments. Tournament participation is optional, with a $10 entry fee per event for 9-hole rounds.

Program Schedule:

Lessons at Crestmoor Driving Range:

  • Tuesday, April 22 – 5:00 & 6:00 p.m.

  • Tuesday, April 29 – 5:00 & 6:00 p.m.

  • Tuesday, May 13 – 5:00 & 6:00 p.m.

Young golfers will be divided into age groups for lessons:

  • Ages 10 & younger: 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

  • Ages 11-17: 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Junior Golf Practice Days will also be available, allowing participants to refine their skills independently. Players 10 and younger, or those without basic knowledge of the game, must be supervised by an adult during practice times.

The Southwest Iowa Junior Golf Tour offers an additional competitive opportunity for junior golfers. Players may enter as many events as they choose, with each tournament requiring an additional $10 entry fee. Golfers are responsible for their own transportation, and a basic understanding of golf rules is recommended for participation in competitive play.

How Parents Can Get Involved:

  • Provide transportation for their child's tournament participation.

  • Volunteer as a scorekeeper if they have knowledge of the game.

  • Supervise young golfers on practice days.

  • Donate food or assist in meal preparation for the Creston tournament.
