Southwestern Community College's first-ever Track Guy Throws Clinic, held on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, from 1-4 p.m., in the Student Center gymnasium, exceeded expectations with 14 student-athletes, four coaches, and three clinicians on-hand to help the student-athletes get better at their craft.

The Track Guy himself, Mike Jay, the voice of the Drake Relays and PA announcer for numerous races at all levels of competition, was in attendance to speak to and work with those in attendance. Jay travels the country sharing his passion for cross country and track and field.

In addition, student-athletes learned drills and techniques from Mike Mullin, Southwestern assistant track and field coach; Jennifer Bissell, four-time national qualifier in the discus at William Jewell College and now throws coach at Griswold High School; TJ Dunphy, a Drake Relays qualifier and third-place state meet finisher in shot put; and Dan Zuniga, shot put record holder for Columbus Community High School and now throws coach at West Branch High School.
