The Spartan men are headed to nationals with a little momentum coming off of their fastest team time of the season Oct. 26 at the Region XI Championships.

"All of our team is running really well right now, and from what I've seen in practice we have a chance to finish off the season really well," said Spartan Head Cross Country Coach Trey Bruton.

Both the men's and women's teams travel to the Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City, Kansas, Saturday for the NJCAA Cross Country Championships. The women run first at 12 p.m. with the men to follow at 1 p.m.

Bruton had some kind words to say about his athletes headed into the championships, "We have an outstanding group of ladies and gentlemen. They all have put in a lot of work this season and I'm excited to get to watch them compete at the national level. We obviously want to go and represent SWCC athletics and the Creston community well and beat as many teams as possible, but we also want to go enjoy the weekend and have a little fun while we do that; our kids deserve that."
