Creston, IOWA— Southwestern Head Cross Country/Track and Field Coach Trey Bruton recently announced the addition of a pair of Shenandoah runners for the 2020 season.

Shenandoah seniors Levi Detrick and Nick Mather signed their National Letters of Intent Tuesday afternoon to join the Spartan cross country and track programs next fall.

Detrick, the son of Tony and Dana Koso, is a three-year varsity letterwinner for coach Andy Campbell's Shenandoah cross country team, in addition to being named academic all-conference. Mather, the son of Phillip and Maria Mather, is a two-year letterwinner in cross country and has also earned three letters in baseball and one in golf at Shenandoah.

"We're definitely happy keeping some of these kids local," Bruton said. "We know they work hard and what we look for are the kids that will come in and work hard to get better. This is what we want and those two exemplify that, coming from a good program with a good coach who has taught them a good work ethic.

"They both have a good drive to compete with each other. It will be nice to see them bring that to our program. Moving forward we feel they can both be leaders."
