Todd Lorensen, Southwestern Community College athletic director, announced today the Spartan softball program will not be competing during the spring 2018 season. The team will resume play during the 2018-19 academic year.

College administrators made the decision following a complete review of the program. Team numbers have recently declined due to a variety of factors and administration determined it would be in the best interest of the student-athletes to cancel the spring 2018 games.

Recruiting for the 2018-19 team will continue as planned.
