Creston, IA—Late last week, Southwestern Community College Head Softball Coach Nick Weinmeister recruited a well-rounded student-athlete in Tri-Center High School's Kayla Jensen.

During high school, Jensen lettered in five sports total—softball, basketball, track and field, cross country, and golf—all while achieving the honor roll and being selected for the National Honor Society. During her softball career, Jensen was named all-conference honorable mention her sophomore year, first team all-conference her junior year, and honorable mention coaches all state team her junior year. In addition, Jensen has been a member of the Pottawattamie Youth Council for four years and competed in speech one year.

Weinmeister said he and Spartan Assistant Coach Mallory McArtor are excited to add Jensen to their incoming class for fall.

"Kayla is a player who not only has athletic accolades, but also excels academically," Weinmeister explained. "She will bring power to our lineup and we expect her to come in and work hard to find an everyday role as a Spartan softball player."

She is the daughter of Steve and RaeShelle Jensen of Neola and will graduate from Tri-Center High School in May 2019.
