Creston, IA—Southwestern Community College Head Softball Coach Danny Jensen and Assistant Coach Tessa Otto made their way to Eagleville, Missouri, recently to recruit the college's newest Spartan student-athlete, Jayliegh Robins.

According to Jensen, Robins is a very talented catcher and first baseman.

"Jayliegh has repeatedly been named all-conference, all-region, and all-state during her four years of high school," said Jensen. "She is a hard-hitting left-hander with great speed on the bases. She will bring some much-needed intensity to our program."

To be precise, Robins' softball honors have included being selected as all-conference first team for four consecutive years; second team all-region two times; first team all-region two years; and a second team all-state selection two times. In addition to her softball honors, Robins has received a scholarship award each year of high school and was a third-place state qualifier in business calculations for FBLA.

Otto said not only are the Spartans gaining a great athlete in Robins, they are gaining a great individual.

"Jayleigh is an outstanding student-athlete on and off the field," stated Otto. "Her hard work and dedication will make her the perfect asset to our Southwestern softball team."

Robins will graduate from North Harrison High School in May 2023. She is the daughter of Nicole Long and Aaron Long.
