Spartans recruit Kansas outfielder

Creston, IA—The Spartan outfield gained a powerful defender hailing from Kansas last week. Julia Jones, a senior at Mill Valley High School in Shawnee, Kansas, signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Southwestern Community College Spartan softball program starting fall 2023.

Gaining playing experience in both high school and club softball, Jones was named most valuable player by her high school softball teammates two years in a row. During club softball, Jones exceled for her club team, Impact, with an OBA of 360. In addition, during high school she played volleyball her freshman and sophomore years.

Academically, Jones has achieved the merit roll throughout high school, as well as the honor roll her senior year. She also enjoys being a member of a select choir group.

Southwestern Head Coach Danny Jensen looks forward to having Jones on his roster.

"Julia is an outstanding defensive outfielder with very good speed," Jensen stated. "She has demonstrated leadership on her high school team, as well as her travel team and will be a vocal leader for us."

Jones is the daughter of Kellie Hardy and Daniel Jones.
