SOFTBALL SWEEPS THE REDTAILS

Southwestern Spartans Softball showcased their resilience in a double-header against Hawkeye Community College, securing both wins to bring their season record to an even 8-8.

In the first game, the Spartans came out swinging, dominating with a final score of 13-5. Pitcher Erika Kruse delivered a stellar performance, going the distance with 7 innings pitched for the win. Kruse's solid pitching was complemented by power at the plate, as Jayliegh Robins and Kruse herself each blasted home runs.

Despite trailing 10-2 after four innings in the second game, the Spartans refused to back down. With determination and grit, they clawed their way back into the game. Kruse showcased her hitting prowess once again, launching another home run. However, it was freshman Brooklyn Hadl who stole the show with a clutch three-run homer in the top of the 7th inning, propelling the Spartans to a thrilling 12-10 comeback victory.

Freshman pitcher Jaisa Boos stepped up when it mattered most, pitching three scoreless innings to earn her first win of the season and seal the victory for the Spartans.

Coach Danny Jensen praised the team's performance, highlighting their resilience and determination. With this split, the Spartans extend their winning streak to five games, setting the stage for future success as they prepare to host Iowa Lakes CC on Monday.
