Clarinda’s Sunderman signs with Spartans

Creston, IA—Clarinda High School's Ryplee Sunderman officially signed with the Spartans of Southwestern Community College late last week.

Sunderman was a second-team All Hawkeye Ten catcher last year. She is a five-year varsity softball letter winner. She finished her junior season with 36 hits, 22 RBIs, and batting .303/.376/.311.

She has received all-academic awards all five years as well, and has attained the honor roll and highest honor roll.

Danny Jensen, Southwestern head softball coach, said Sunderman's leadership qualities will be a valuable asset to the team, in addition to her athletic abilities.

"Ryplee is an outstanding utility player," stated Jensen. "She is a speedy left-handed hitter with experience behind the plate, first base, and second base."

Sunderman is the daughter of Chad and Michelle Sunderman of Clarinda and will graduate from Clarinda High School in May 2024.
