Creston, IA—Spartan softball welcomes all-state catcher and Southwestern Community College (SWCC) sophomore McKenna Wiechman of Griswold to the team for their 2024-25 run.

Wiechman, a May 2023 graduate of Griswold High School, played for the Southwestern basketball team during the 2023-24 academic year.

During high school, Wiechman was named first team all-conference all four years; all-district catcher for two years; and all-state catcher for one year.

In addition to athletics, Wiechman was named to the National Honor Society in 2023, the A honor roll all four years of high school, and was an Iowa all-academic selection for three years for basketball and softball.

"McKenna has great defensive skills and a big bat," stated Danny Jensen, Spartan head softball coach. "She brings a lot of experience and leadership as she started every game of her high school career."

She is the daughter of Missy Jacobson and Matt Wiechman.
