Creston, IA—Last week, Southwestern Community College (SWCC) softball inked Sydney Cain, a standout student-athlete from Chariton High School, for their 2025-26 run.
Danny Jensen, SWCC head softball coach, said the coaching staff is excited to welcome Cain to their team this fall.
"Sydney is an outstanding utility player who can play several positions," stated Jensen. "She is a multi-sport letter winner, as well as a two-time medalist at the last two state track meets. She is a contact hitter who will provide us with great speed on the bases."
For softball, Cain has been named first team all-conference one season and honorable mention all-conference two seasons. In addition to the two state medals in track, she was a Drake Relay's qualifier and has been named academic all-conference multiple times.
Jensen said in addition to sports, Cain has done a great job being involved in many leadership roles during high school.
She has been active in 4-H, serving as youth council president and club president, as well as in FFA, serving as vice president and earning her FFA state degree.
Cain is the daughter of Kim and Dusty Cain of Chariton. She will graduate from Chariton High School in May 2025.
