JACKSON JUNCTION - The Southwestern sport shooters came up one bird short in a 441-440 loss to Northeast Iowa Community College at Turkey Valley Trap Range on Saturday, April 13.

Northeast Iowa CC swept the men's medals, but Southwestern swept the women's medals. Courtney Nielsen took top honors with her score of 90, followed by silver medalist Sydney McElfish (88) and bronze medalist Makenna Lilly (87), who won a shoot off for the bronze medal.

Blake Binns (89) and Tom Steinbach (86) were also scoring members for the Southwestern squad.

"It was very cold and windy and the scores showed that for both teams," Southwestern Head Sports Shooting Coach Marc Roberg said. "I was very glad to see our girls sweep the medals."

Southwestern closes out its schedule for the year Saturday, April 27, at the SCTP State Championships at Stockdale Gun Glub in Ackley.
