The Southwestern Community College sports shooting team earned its third consecutive win on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the High Lakes Shooting Range in Afton. The Spartans faced vs Ellsworth Community College on their home range and came away with a 466 to 330 victory.

For the men, Tyllar Roesener took his third men's title with a 96. Carter Griffin took second with a 92 and Wyatt Baker made his first trip to the medal stand with a 90 for third place.

For the women, Courtney Nielsen took her fourth women's title with a 96. Makenna Lilly took second in the women's division with a 92.

Spartan Head Coach Marc Roberg was again impressed with the performance of his team.

"Tyllar and Courtney have been forces to reckon with this year," said Roberg. "They have both been shooting extremely well this season."

These two have been backed up with a strong cast.

"Carter has been real consistent as well, medaling in most of our meets," stated Roberg. "I was glad to see Wyatt medal with his second 90 or better in a row; Makenna is really starting to come on with her second medal in a row; and Morgan Pierce and Devin Meek were just outside the medal count with an 89 and 88 respectively."

Southwestern is now 2-1 in the conference and 3-2 record overall. The Spartans will host Grand View University varsity on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 5 pm and Iowa Western on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 3 p.m., both at the High Lakes Shooting Range.
