Josh Purdy named sports shooting head coach

Josh Purdy

Southwestern Community College has filled its vacant coaching position at the helm of the sports shooting program with the hiring of Josh Purdy of Afton. The sports shooting vacancy came following the resignation of Marc Roberg this spring. Roberg had been head coach for the Spartans since fall 2016 and will continue to be available to the program at the High Lakes Outdoor Alliance shooting range, Southwestern's home range, in Afton.

Purdy will be taking over all technical aspects of Southwestern's championship-caliber shooting program, including day-to-day activities, practices, and competition. He comes to the program with a wealth of professional and recreational shooting experience.

Purdy has coached the Union County Clay Shooters and is very familiar with the High Lakes Outdoor Alliance. He is a frequent shooter in leagues and tournaments. He also volunteers at High Lakes to ensure a smooth and successful shoot for all competitors.

In addition to coaching for Southwestern, Purdy works for John Deere.
