Sports Shooting Shoots at the ACUI Upper Midwest Super Shoot in Grand Island, NE

The Southwestern sports shooting team traveled to Grand Island, Nebraska, to shoot in the ACUI Upper Midwest Super Shoot with 16 schools from all levels spread across the Midwest with more than 140 shooters in attendance. Southwestern freshman Cole Sorensen turned a lot of heads throughout the weekend with high placings across multiple events.

Sorensen came in sixth place overall with 299 targets broke out of the possible 350. This overall finish encompasses all possible varieties of shoots and all shooters were eligible. He took third in sporting clays, took fifth in American trap, and took first in men's combined events.

The program consisted of 100 American trap targets, 100 American skeet targets, 100 sporting clay targets, and 50 super sporting clay targets. The Spartans came in seventh place in the field of 16, competing against schools from NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, and NJCAA.
