Remie Haynes, a 5'8" guard, from Seymour, TX, recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for Head Coach Addae Houston and the Spartans of Southwestern Community College in Creston.

Houston said Haynes will be a great addition to his 2018-19 team.

"Remie has the length and athleticism we desired to help close gaps defensively," Houston stated. "And on the offensive end, she has the ability to stretch our opponents' defense as a solid outside shooter."

Haynes, who will graduate from Seymour High School in May, has excelled in basketball throughout high school. She received Class 2A District 9 First Team honors in 2017-18 and was a Class 2A District 9 Honorable Mention selection following the 2016-17 season. During the 2017-18 season, she helped her team to a 23-9 overall record and the team was 10-4 in district play. In addition, she received district all-academic honors in 2016-17.

Doug Hunt, Haynes' high school coach, was complimentary of his former player.

"Remie has a lot of upside … I wish her the very best of luck."

Haynes, who is the daughter of Robert and Melanie Haynes, said because of her love for the game she is very thankful to have the opportunity to play basketball at the next level.
