Spartan women avenge loss to Little Priest

SWCC vs. Little Priest Tribal College

The Southwestern Community College women turned a 10-point halftime lead into a 98-65 win over Little Priest Tribal College Saturday in the SWCC Student Center gymnasium.

The Spartans outscored Little Priest 52-29 in the second half, including a 37-23 advantage in the third quarter.

Southwestern shot 49.2 percent from the floor and held Little Priest to just 29.7 percent shooting.

Sophomore Madelyn Moya paced the Spartans, scoring 28 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the floor to go with eight rebounds and two steals. C'Anne Hunter added 13 points with 11 rebounds for a double-double. Jasmine Aviles, Vanessa Romo and Kayela Willis scored 11 points apiece to give the Spartans five players in double figures. Romo finished with five rebounds and two blocked shots.

Simone Jordan added seven points and four rebounds, while Paola Tavares chipped in five points with two steals. Tina Lair-Van Meter finished with four points, six rebounds and two steals.

The win marked the second in the past three games for Southwestern, which improved to 9-14 overall and 3-8 in ICCAC play. Southwestern travels to Ellsworth Community College (0-24, 0-11) Wednesday. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
