Spartan Women Headed into Winter Break

2019 WBB Team
Southwestern Women's Basketball 2019-20

The Southwestern Women's Basketball team heads into winter break after a grueling non-conference schedule. The Spartans have battled teams ranked in the top-six of the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball poll five times this season, and will face no lighter task heading into conference play after break. The top-two teams in the nation are both part of the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference schedule, and one will be played twice.

The Spartans head into break with a 6-8 record and currently 1-1 in conference play. Sophomore from Grandview Missouri, Simone Jordan, is leading the way just shy of averaging a double-double at this point in the season. Jordan is second in the conference in rebounds per game at 9.1, she also leads the Spartans in scoring with 14.3 points per game.

Southwestern, led by Head Coach Bryan Austin, looks to lean on a difficult schedule as they move into conference play. The Spartans have the third-highest scoring offense in the conference, and they look to use that offensive efficiency to seperate themselves late in the game.

Your Southwestern Spartans will be back defending their home court on Saturday, January 11 vs the Tritons of Iowa Central. Tip-off is at 1:00 p.m.
