The Southwestern women spent most of winter break in the gym preparing for a grueling second-half to their 2019-20 season. The Spartan offense struggled until the fourth quarter, where they outscored the Knights, 17-8, but falling at the end of the contest, 46-50.

The Spartans were led by freshman Brielle Baker, with 16 points, nine rebounds, and two assists. A spark off the bench came from freshman Kaylynn Tucker and her 11 points and five rebounds.

Southwestern struggled on defense in guarding the Knights' Emily Joseph, as she ended up with 24 points, leading her team.

The Spartan men and women will travel to Iowa Lakes Community College on January 8 to kickoff the heart of conference play. Women's tip at 5:30 pm.
