The Southwestern women traveled to Estherville to take on the Lakers of Iowa Lakes in the first conference match-up in the second-half of the season.

The Spartans were again led by a double-double performance by sophomore Simone Jordan. Jordan led the team in scoring with 13 points and in rebounds with 10.

A slow start for the Spartans dug a hole they came up just short of overcoming in the fourth quarter. A quiet start to the game left the first two minutes with no points scored on either side. The game was tied at 6-6 with under six minutes to go in the first quarter, then the Lakers got hot, entering the second quarter with a 20-10 lead.

Southwestern cut the lead in the fourth quarter down to a mere four points, but couldn't seal the deal, falling 57-49.

The Spartan women will look to defend their home court on Saturday, January 11, against the Tritons of Iowa Central. Tip-off will be at 1 p.m. with the men to follow.
