CRESTON, Iowa – The Southwestern Spartans women's basketball program is excited to announce the addition of Shoval Dor, a 5-foot-6 point guard from Kfar-Saba, Israel. Dor, who has been playing basketball since the age of five, brings leadership, determination, and a passion for the game to the Spartans.
Dor has played for the second-largest club in Israel, gaining valuable experience at the point guard position. Her journey in basketball extends beyond her own playing career—she played a pivotal role in developing the sport at her school, creating a girls' basketball team where none existed and teaching others the game.
"Thanks to basketball, I learned the importance of perseverance," Dor said. "I learned that in order to achieve success, you have to invest a lot, and I learned that you should never give up."
Dor's decision to join Southwestern was influenced by the college's commitment to diversity and opportunity for international student-athletes.
"I chose Southwestern because of the diversity in international students," Dor explained. "The diversity shows the desire to give equal opportunity to people who were not born in the United States, and I really connected with this approach."
The Spartans coaching staff is eager to welcome Dor to the program and believes she will make an immediate impact.
"Shoval is a great person and a great player, and we are very excited to welcome her to the program!" said Head Coach Kori Zarzutski. "She will work hard and be a good teammate. She brings with her excellent court vision as a point guard."
The Southwestern women's basketball program continues to build a strong foundation, and the addition of Dor is another step in strengthening the team's depth and competitiveness. The Spartans look forward to seeing her contributions on and off the court in the upcoming season.
