Olivia Clark Signs with Southwestern Women’s Basketball

CRESTON, Iowa – The Southwestern Spartan women's basketball program is excited to announce the signing of Olivia Clark, a 5-foot-4 guard from Dr. Ralph H. Poteet High School in Mesquite, Texas.

Clark brings a strong background in both athletics and academics to Southwestern. As a high school standout, she served as a varsity captain and helped lead her team to three consecutive district championships. Her achievements extend beyond the court, earning Academic All-District honors, ranking in the top 10% of her class, and excelling in rigorous coursework, including eight Advanced Placement (AP) classes. She was also a two-year academic decathlon participant and a member of the varsity choir.

Clark shared her enthusiasm for joining the Spartan family, stating, "I chose Southwestern because the environment is different than what I'm used to, and I think the exposure to that would be good. And the coaches that I talked to, I felt like we clicked on a different level than any other coaches. Also, the campus and the dorm style is so much better than other states!"

Southwestern head coach Kori Zarzutzki expressed excitement about Clark's addition to the program. "I am excited about Olivia and the energy on and off the court she will bring. She has a very fun personality, she is a great teammate, and she has a heart for playing defense. She is a great addition to the program!"

Clark's leadership, defensive mindset, and well-rounded academic and extracurricular background make her a valuable addition to the Spartans. The program looks forward to seeing her impact both on and off the court.
