Southwestern Women’s Basketball Signs French Guard Fantine Adgnot

Creston, IA — The Southwestern Spartans Women's Basketball program has added international talent to its 2025-26 recruiting class with the signing of Fantine Adgnot, a 5'8" guard from Bergerac, France.

Adgnot brings extensive high-level experience from Europe and the United States. A product of a basketball family, she has been immersed in the game from a young age and has competed in several elite-level environments. Among her most notable accomplishments are her selections to top-tier regional teams, including earning recognition as one of the top 20 players in France born in 2006. She also competed in both the French U15 and U18 championships, as well as the National 3 division, all while taking on leadership roles as team captain.

In addition to her on-court achievements, Adgnot's academic record is equally impressive. She earned her French "baccalauréat" in 2024 and will complete her American high school diploma in 2025 following her time at Winston Salem Christian School (NC).

Her commitment to Southwestern came after extensive conversations with Spartans Head Coach Kori Zarzutzki, whose player-first philosophy made an immediate impact on the French guard.

"After a year at Winston Salem Christian School and various basketball contacts, Southwestern Community College seemed to be the school that most closely resembled me," Adgnot said. "The feeling immediately passed between us. I fully found myself in what she was looking for, especially in the vision she has for the team this year. She particularly insists on the importance of the human aspect, which meets my values."

Adgnot views her move to Southwestern as both a basketball and personal development opportunity.

"This move to Southwestern, for two years, is a real opportunity for me to progress, to grow, and, if God willing, to reach the next level after these two years."

Coach Zarzutzki sees the addition of Adgnot as a strong fit for the program's vision.

"Fantine fits extremely well with what we look for in an athlete, both on and off the court," said Zarzutzki. "She has a strong basketball background, a great work ethic, and she can also really shoot it. We are incredibly excited about Fantine and all she brings!"

Adgnot joins a Southwestern squad competing in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) and the NJCAA Region XI.
