Findlay medals as Spartans finish 5th at Simpson

Southwestern sophomore Bianca Findlay took top honors at the Simpson College Spring Invite.

INDIANOLA - Southwestern sophomore Bianca Findlay took medalist honors Wednesday, April 10, at the Simpson College Spring Invite at Indianola Country Club.

Findlay, a national qualifier last year, finished three strokes clear of the field with her 9-over-par round of 80, leading the Spartans to a fifth-place finish in the field of seven teams. Southwestern (393) finished just five strokes back of second place NIACC (388).

Freshman Ashton Carter of Creston finished tied for fourth place with her round of 90, while Sarah Rauschenberg tied for 11th with a score of 95. Katelyn Belding rounded out the team scoring for the Spartans with her score of 128.

Southwestern's women return to action Sunday and Monday in Fort Dodge at the Iowa Central Spring Women's Invitational.
