The Southwestern Community College volleyball program gained a libero and defensive specialist from Arecibo, Puerto Rico, late last week.

Southwestern Head Volleyball Coach Casey Quiggle said Lyann Mena, who will graduate this year from Colegio Evangelico Capitan Correa High School, will be a great addition to the Spartan volleyball team.

"Lyann is athletic and will help us on serve receive and defense," Quiggle explained. "She also has a strong serve and a high volleyball IQ."

Mena, who stands at 5 feet 2 inches, is the daughter of Brenda Rodriguez Martinez of Arecibo, Puerto Rico.
